Is it wrong if a Christian person gets plastic surgery?

My friend is a believer and she is going to get botox and breast implants. Would God approve of this and is he going to get mad and punish her?

  1. wow.... I have heard everything now
  2. no its her body as long as shes making herself look better, to give a boost in her self asteem. I doubt God would look down on her.
  3. OFCOURSE ITS WRONG! God made her that way, so she should love gods decisions. NAHT. Haha tell her to go to town with the plastic surgery.
  4. Don't worry. Your friend won't upset "God," nor will she be punished.
  5. No. It is vain. We all fall short from the glory of God.
  6. While it's never really a good idea, I can't recall any biblical warning against doing so. As long as she doesn't start flashing them at people I think she's okay. If she does, though, who knows? Maybe a whole meteor shower of fire and brimstone will crush her town like Sodom. Let's hope not. On a more serious note, though, it's just more of a risk that she'll get hit on by the wrong type of guys. If she can handle it responsibly and morally, then there's not much to worry about for her. If she gives in and takes to the wrong sort, though, then she's got something to lose sleep over.
  7. Why do Christians make clear distinctions of Chirstians and non-Christian. "Christians" seem like a brand name. Like why do Christians put labels and make clearly makes a distinction of Christians and non-Christians. Like they would say something like 'Open your Christian heart'. What about just say open your heart. Why should it be labeled. Why can't we just be believers with no titles.
  8. No, not if they need it, but, if they do not, then?
  9. I don't think God is going to get mad but when you get botox it's going to be obvious that you did something to yourself. My advise to her is to do it if it is only nessesary.
  10. I don't think the Lord would approve...of this....but,I don't think it is a sin.I think if she is deformed or something ..that would be OK. I must say.. i like the breast bigger...but,try to abstain from lusting....;0
  11. It is wrong. Your body is not your own. We have no right to change what God has given us. Is it because she wants to live up to society's standards? In that case, she needs to look beyond this and pray to God about why she feels this way. Plastic surgery may let her down, but God never will and it's this assurance that will make her a better person, not an external transformation.
  12. It depends on her motive and what God wants her to do.
  13. Is your friend stealing the money for cosmetic improvements? Or taking her children's food money? If not I bet God doesn't mind a bit.
  14. No Should a person feel insecure about the way they look they are completely allowed to correct what they believe is a problem. Our Lord desire's us to be confident with ourself and to maintain a good level of self-esteem. However, the above scenario does have a limit, many people go overboard and begin to view their body as a God. We should never place so much emphasis on ourself to the point that cause's our love for God to diminish.
  15. Well if God disapproves and sends people to "hell" when they alter their body, then I am not going to heaven, because I have a ton of tattoos! I think that God wouldn't necessarily punish her for getting botox and a boob job...I think there is a difference between getting plastic surgery for the right and wrong reasons. Does your friend think that by getting a boob job, etc. that the physical alterations are going to make her feel more fulfilled? That her insecurities are automatically going to go away with this new look? That people are going to like her more? All of that is face value. I think God would say that if she is doing the surgery for these reasons, then they are the wrong ones. God/Christianity teaches us that to be a happily fulfilled person comes from WITHIN, from the heart and soul, from spirituality. The only punishment she could receive would be self inflicted really. The let down that these physical, aesthetic changes were going to change who she is on the inside..and realizing that it is something you gain by soul searching and spirituality. But maybe she isn't doing it for these reasons? I don't know. I mean I would get a boob job just so I wouldn't have to ever wear a bra again, it would have nothing to do with pleasing society. Anyways....(maybe that was TMI) I just hope that your friend isn't doing these things for the wrong reasons, because those are the types of things that lead us farther from God.
  16. Yes it is wrong.........it's telling God He did a bad job and she needs the god of plastic surgery to fix it.
