Do you feel bad for those who die or suffer from complications as a result of cosmetic surgery?

We've all seen the movie stars and their results. We've heard horror stories about blotched operations and death from complications. When it turns out great, great; but when its bad, it can be really bad. Do you feel bad for those who end up with a worse result, or die from cosmetic surgery, whether celebrities or every day people? My thinking is, unless this surgery was required (eg - burns victims, people seriously injured due to attacks) as opposed to mere vanity, they don't deserve sympathy. I'm not saying anyone is asking for sympathy - but if you heard someone died from unnecessary cosmetic surgery, would you sympathise?

  1. no. they shud have accepted who they were.
  2. Certainly, I would feel sorry for anyone who has bad luck.
  3. vanity
  4. Personally, I do feel bad for them. Everyone has something that they wish they could improve about themselves. For some it's a physical attribute, for others it's reaching a greater spiritual plain, becoming more educated on a particular topic, achieving a higher level in their profession, or thew all American dream of owning a home. While I don't feel that it would be something I would choose to do, I think many people choose this as a means to feel better about themselves. I feel sad anytime someone can't achieve something that they obviously want so much. Note: I do feel more for the families who are left behind when something goes drastically wrong.
  5. a girl in my high school died from complications after a nose job. the surgery was unnecessary. i always thought that people take that risk deserve the results but when you actually put a name and a face to it, it is still a young person dying which is sad no matter how they died. same goes for everyone else. they took the risk, but did they deserve to die? it is still a life lost for a stupid reason, but still very very sad. so, yes i do feel bad.
  6. i do not feel bad for them unless they were having cosmetic surgery to correct a deformity caused by an accident or they were born with it. but if it is like a face lift or implants i personally blame them and i think to myself what a stupid idiot.
  7. I'll feel bad if the person had only one surgery and it went wrong, but mostly people who get cosmetic complications are people who had almost 10 different surgeries, and those are the people I don't really feel sorry for. And I agree with you about some people that need surgery due to burns and etc. I'll feel bad if they died.
  8. That is mean. Doctors shouldn't kill their patients. It doesn't matter why they had operations. What if you died during an electrical fire while your beautician was giving you a perm? Someone might say to hell with her, she was being vain.
