What is everyones views about people who get cosmetic surgery on the NHS?

A girl in my class at college has been off cos she is getting a boob job. She has mentioned to us all before that she was getting it on the NHS. Thing is, she is not top heavy. I can understand people that need reductions because they get bad backs, but it angers me that she is using the taxpayers money to have new boobs. Personally I dont think this is right; my Nan was recently sent back home after a serious illness from hospital because of a C Diff bug going round. Whilst it is easy to point the finger of blame, I do think that if the NHS spent its money more wisely, ie NOT on cosmetic surgery, it wouldnt be so bad. I have had surgery before, but never ever on the NHS, I dont think it's morally right. What do you all think. Thank you.

  1. don't worry honey, nhs boob jobs look crap, she will end up with lumpy boobs. Yes it is annoying. I'm sure she knows the GP well. OR she must have made up a story about depression and suicide attempts because of her figure. we all get what we deserve in the end, so don't worry
  2. she obviouslly does need it they dont give out boob jobs to anyone who wants one it might not be down to her size there are many factors it could be
  3. I think it is disgusting that people can get surgical procedures for vanity on the NHS. I have nothing against people wanting surgery to improve or enhance their assets, as long as it is paid for and not done on the NHS. In our area at the moment you can not get treatment for breast cancer because our "postcode area doesn't fit". Everyone should be entitled to surgical procedures for health not just in certain postcode areas!
  4. I agree with you, I think it's immoral that I'm paying for some stupid girl who is pathetically insecure to get stuffed full of silicone that won't make her feel better. Cosmetic surgery disgusts me anyway. But more than ever when it's on the NHS. Sickening.
  5. I agree with you it is immoral, especially when people cannot get life saving drugs etc due to postcode locations etc, also they will probably need more surgery in years to come when the Silicone starts to leech out of the implants
  6. People cant get cosmetic surgery on the NHS. They can have operations from the NHS, but nothing to do with cosmetic surgery. I went to the doctors a couple of weeks ago to see if i could get an operation on part of my body but i would have to pay for it. I think that it should be on the NHS- if somthing is ruining your life because of whatever, why should we pay? x
  7. I agree that valuable NHS resources should be used wisely for the benefit of people with a real medical need. I also agree about the immorality of abusing the NHS or any other benefit system. I think it is OK for the NHS to provide cosmetic surgery in the case of disfigurement due to injury or illness or birth defect that is likely to cause significant distress or material loss of function to the sufferer. Cosmetic surgery solely for reasons of vanity should not be paid for from our taxes. Of course we have no way of knowing the underlying facts about your college colleague (not everyone tells the whole truth all the time so she may have told you only a partial truth) but I would hope the medical authorities would weed-out any inappropriate patients. Let's hope so anyway.
  8. boob reductions I can understand cos it can cause other problems with backache etc and psycological problems. I dont agree with this one tho, especially with the postcode lottery with cancer drugs etc that we have got now.
  9. this really does pi.. me off, for someone to get this on n.h.s but someone with cancer has to sell there house for the drugs.Iknow someone who had a sex change on n.h.s and in the paper the same day someone was refused medication for cancer, this has to stop hppe youre nans feelin better x
  10. I think if someone has been disfigured or something in some way which is mentally and emotionally damaging then i think its perfectly fine to get cosmetic surgery on the NHS eg people who have been horribly burnt or women who have had to have a breast removed due to cancer etc. For something like a boob job just because she wants bigger boobs, that something that should be privatly done and not on the NHS
