Gastric bypass without cosmetic surgery after wards?
is it possible to get this surgery and not need another surgery to remove the excess skin. i have seen on tv where someone loses 100lbs and then they have to have like a full body lift to remove all the extra skin. i don't know whats worse being fat or having extra skin hanging around.

- that may depend on a variety of things like how long you've been overweight and how old you are. Older skin well, its less supple. also like some women gain weight during pregnancy and go back quite a bit, but they are only pregnant 9 months. if youve been stretched out 5 years it might be different you know? I am just guessing that that might depend on things like that. However, looks are not the only reason to lose weight. you will feel better, maybe be healthier or live longer. I am sure there are a LOT of benefits that would outweight the hanging skin. Imagine boarding a plane without worrying about the seat sizes or being able to run again and feel good inside. Think about adding 10 or more years to your life, maybe even 20, to be running and flying cool places. You'd have a lot of your life back, even with hanging skin. I mean if you are so overweight that you are at risk for heart problems, diabetes, and you have trouble running around and enjoying yourself, then there are so many more benefits than just which looks better, fat or hanging skin. I imagine this matters more when you are naked than when you have clothes on anyway. Imagine buying small clothes and looking good with them on, thats another benefit. So, I am just suggesting, you probably will have lose skin. BUt even if you cant have surgery to remove the skin, maybe its worth it hanging skin or not.
- All depends on you being the individual. I had a tummy tuck and its only 6000 so if you did have gastric bypass wish is almost around 80,000 without insurance you can come up with 6,000 for it. But if you are young and workout daily while losing weight your skin might start shrinking at the same time- happened to a former teacher. You should has a specialist.
- You Can but i would strongly recommend the surgery
- Whether you need the plastic surgery to remove skin in dependant on how much weight you have lost. I have lost over 120 pounds and have the saggy skin. The plastic surgeon told me if you lose more than 80 you will need follow up surgery. There is not much you can do about it other than to wear compression garments. My insurance company will not approve the cosmetic surgery. I wish they would. I don't think they realize the psychological effect the loose skin has on us. If you have skin rashes or infections be sure to document it with doctors visits and pictures. Those will help you with the insurance companies. Document, document, document. Good luck in your quest to have the skin removed.
