How much does surgery really cost and where can I find set prices?

It seems like hospitals all have different prices for the same type of surgery, but what does all the material really cost, because so much is wasted when they open a surgical pack. So how much does it cost?

  1. wow...be more specific will you? and there is never a set price for surgeries.

  3. It depends on what the surgery is and how posh the hospital is. If you tell more about your surgery I will be glad to answer you specifically. drsajeevk@gmail.com
  4. As per working at a hospital and dealing with the cost of surgery. Surgery never has a set price. You have to keep in consideration that the reason why hospital mainly always give you an estimated cost is due to the fact that something might change at last minute and they might have to use more or use less. YOu also get separate bills the hospital and the doctors bill. But you can call the registration department at your hospital or get connected to the admitting department and as how much would your surgery be. Also make sure that if you have insurance that your deductables and copays are paid off. If not their is a high chance that your insurance wont cover it and you'll get two bills instead of just one.
  5. Surgery is not a commodity item/service. It is silly to think that you should pay the "actual" value of something; it is far more complicated. You can't find set prices, at least not in the United States. The cost of the disposables are minor compared to the cost that goes to the physicians and surgical staff. Do you really want your surgery going to the lowest bidder?
  6. Get online and check out india and vietnam. There are places overseas where surgery is done well and much less expensively than here. I can't remember where I read about this, so I can't give a source.
