How much does it cost to have distichia surgery on my puppy?

I just got a weimaraner puppy and he has distichia. My veterinarian says surgery can cost 1000 dollars, but the breeder who i got him from said the surgery can be performed for 75 dollars and she would only refund us 75 dollars. I am pretty sure that is not right. If anyone has had to do this surgery with their dog or knows someone who has done it can they please let me know a price? thanks in advance

1. Since distichia is a congenital disease, yes the breeder should be paying for it. As for price, it is whatever the market will stand in your area. If she wants to take the pup back and have it done at her expense (since dogs with this condition should not be bred) allow her to do that or replace the pup with one who does not have it.
2. If you bought a puppy from a responsible breeder (which it sounds like you did not) they usually guarantee their puppies to be free of genetic issues or they will refund your money, pay at least in part for treatment or offer you another puppy . The surgery usually does cost considerably more then $75...cost depends on the area, the vet doing the surgery, how involved it is, etc....There are very few surgeries out there that only cost $75....expect to pay anywhere from $600 - $1000 depending...
