Can anesthesiologist perform plastic surgeries?
I have learned that anesthesiogist can't perform surgeries, so i would like to know if that includes plastic surgeries.

- No they cannot. Their job is to closely monitor the anesthesia they give you so you don't die from it.
- Not a surgeon!!! They just put you to sleep, keep you alive, and wake you up!
- No, not unless he/she has had training in that field as well. An anesthesiologist has a very special and important task, and that is to give you the least amount of anesthetic possible during your surgery, to keep you just barely "under" and pain-free, so as to cause the fewest side effects of the chemical. This allows your surgeon, of whatever kind, to do his/her job without worrying if he/she is causing you pain.
- Yes, it includes plastic surgery as well. You have to be certified to do any surgery, so an anesthesiologist cannot do ANY kind of surgery, UNLESS he/she is also certified to do so. Highly unlikely but could happen.
- no- hospitals will not credential an anesthesiologist to do those procedures.
- Only if he/she has had training to do that. It would require years of surgical training in order to be any good at it. I do know of some anesthesiologists who do laser skin treatment and spider vein sclerosis, but they trained separately to do that. (I also know obstetricians who do the same thing. It's a money making venture.) We tend to stick to what we're trained to do. Besides, surgery is so tedious.... all the fun is on the other side of the drapes :D
