Stork Bites and Angel Kisses on my Baby?
I had my baby girl on March 29, she was born with some significant marks on her face called Stork bites or Angel Kisses. They are on her forhead, eyelids, nose, and upper lip. I was very upset and concerned about them since they were pretty red. The doctors and nurses kept telling me they are normal and common and will fade with time. Though other people have said they might stay and she will need cosmetic surgery. Does anyone have kids that had these and how long generally did it take for them to go away. Did anyone have to have cosmetic surgery for them?

- get a second opinion then get a Lawyer if you need to
- My daughter had a red mark right smack dab between her eyes. I was told it was a stork bite, and it disappeared, don't worry, listen to the doctors, not other people. She was about 6 months when it went away.
- I was born with 'stork beak marks' , and so was my daughter. Mine and my daughters both faded. You cannot even see them. We both had the marks on our eyelids, between the eyes, and at the base of the hairline at the back. I do find, that when my daughter is extremely upset or angry, you can see them faintly (apparently you can with mine too), but as she calms down, they fade again. BTW, my daughter is now nearly 5, and they probably took about 12 to 18 months to fade.
- Many fade and only become noticeable when the person gets angry or upset. Just watch it. If it starts to grow in size, it may be a true hemangioma. Dr Milton Waner at Beth Israel Hospital in NYC is probably the best doctor in the country for menagioma treatment. At this point don't stress to much until you see how your childs birthmark progresses. Then act if it seems to start growing....
- My daughter was born with a mark just above her hair line. While it had faded a lot it is still a little noticable when I move her hair back. She is 2 1/2 now. They might stay, but in most children they are gone by the time they go to school. I know an older man that was born with one and now it is just a little tan spot on the side of his face that is barely noticable, it is only a little darker than his skin color. Chances are it will mostly go away. Most kids that grow up with them are ok with them being there though so don't worry about her too much. Let her decide if she doesn't want them there. She may like the fact that she is a bit different. I think it adds character. Congrats on the baby.
- My little girl was born March 9, with something on her forhead that the doctor said was called Flamus something and will fade with time too....When she was born it was really red and became even redder when she would cry. It's still there but i have noticed that its fadding away. When she crys it doesn't turn red, the only sign of it is a faint out line. I was really worried too about it. So just watch it and see, my daughter is 6wks. So just see and watch, Her's might start to fade as well.
- My gorgeous baby girl was born with a stork bite on her right eyelid. I was very concerned also and spoke to her pedetrician about it and she said that usually within the first year they will fade away... dont worry mommy, it all just takes time!
- My daughter has this is does my sister. However my sister's isn't noticeable until she gets mad then it shows up. We now call them mad marks! So yes it will fade but when you make her mad.... Hello again!
- Angel kisses are on the face, and stork bites are in the back in the hairline. My daughter had both stork bites and angel kisses. I too was very concerned because of how dark they were on her face. She has one almost in the middle of her eyebrows, and one on her eyelid. She is almost a year old and they have not completely gone away. I have been assured that they eventually will go away, but it does take time to fade. As a first time mom it can be very concerning, I know. In pictures I can see how it is fading, and don't really worry about it anymore.
- All three of my kids had significant stork bites/angel kisses on their eyelids and on the back of their necks. It was to the point that people commented on it alot, it looked like their eyes were bruised and backs of necks were beet red. I was lucky enough that with all three of my kids, they completely faded away by their first birthday - which is what my doctors had told me would happen. I would say if your daughter's haven't faded by her first birthday, you might want to talk to some pediatric dermatologists about it - most likely they would use lasers to remove them (I've had a tatoo lasered off and there were kids there to get birthmarks removed by lasers and were very successful). Good luck!!
