iv had a tummy tuck 3 wks ago and everything seems to be going well altho the recovery time is taking alot?

longer than i thought.iv taken 6 wks off work.however i went back for a checkup with my consultant last night and he told me i have serum fluid in the cavity which he drained off there and then with the insertion of a needle he said this can happen espcially when you have a tummy tuck combined with liposuction.i forgot to ask him on leaving can this keep reoccuring with me i go back to see him in 2 wks.or is it normaly a 1 off that this serum collects could i go bk and have to have it drawn off again?? cos surely this is hampering my healing prossess. any answers please.

  1. I know a tummy tuck and a breast reduction are not the same but I had the same complications and they are both serious surgerys. Anyhow, I had to go back for check ups for about a month maybe more after my surgery. I had fluid that he had to drain from my breast as well and he had to do it I think on my first, second and maybe 3rd check up. It's nothing to worry about, it's good that he gets it out. I had like a soda can full of fluid he had to drain each time...it was gross! I know how you feel but it won't mess with your healing process, it will only help it...it won't make it worse. It took me longer than six weeks to heal from my surgery, so don't worry if you still don't feel completely healed when you go back to work, it's normal. You will feel a hell of a lot better by then but not completely, but enough to beable to work. Good Luck and I hope this helped.
  2. in actuality, this is part of the healing process, and yes you can continue to have it drained off. remember to eat healthy and drink pleanty of water as this facilitates the healing process.
