what is that mask called they put over your face before surgery?

im wirting a book and im not sure "face mask" is what it's called. Help?

1. Oxygen mask don't you watch ER?? ever heard of a hit show called GREYS ANATOMY???
2. It's commonly known as an ambu mask. Ambu's were one of the original devices that we used to help a patient who wasn't breathing. It's a bag with a valve on it so it self reinflates allowing the caregiver to breath for them rapidly. The mask with the inflatable contoured cushion to fit over the mouth and nose was called the mask but to distinguish it from the many other types of masks used in hospitals we called it the ambu mask and everyone knew what you were talking about. There are many different types of oxygen masks, and then the masks for to personnel wear during operations and then masks for use by the staff with a patient who has a communicable disease. Oh yeah, Ambu was the brand name of the bag mask device but the name just stuck because everyone was used to calling it that. There have been many improvements to the device by different companies but the name still sticks even though most hospitals have done away with the original a long time ago.
