Deviated septum surgery ?
Heyy, im a 13 year old girl diagnosed with a deviated septum & enlarged blood vessel my left nostril. Im going to a Specialist in July but , i would like to know some ahead of time. My nose clearly at touch & some sight you can see i have a very crooked spot in my nose & when i touch the inside i can feel it bending toward the left side. Sometimes am stuffed up in the left nostril, between my suddenly more frequent nose bleeds. Can/ will any doctors do any surgery age younger than 18 ? My conditions get worse every year or a few & i really don't wanna wait all the way till im 18 who knows how bad it'll get ? Also is there some way they could fix the blood vessel & septum in the same surgery & i have a kind of odd nose. The way is it shaped ( i hate it its big) i don't think it would be able to look the same would it ? because like is had some curve at the top but then it goes up into a huge bump at the bridge & then it doesn't end. So any answer please ? && any more information on this ? thank you :) My nose kinda looks like this (before picture) but not quit as big or bad http://www.osuedc.org/plastic_surgery/pics/rhinoplasty.jpg

- Nobody is perfect, in fact, most people have deviated septums to some degree. I have a bit of one, I am 13, and I have frequent nosebleeds also. You can get surgery, but your doctor probably doesn't want to do surgery on someone so young with a problem that is not handicapping you in any way. Say, if you couldn't breathe, or if you were having nosebleeds so often you were anemic, they would probably do surgery. But until your problem is keeping you from going on with life, then your doctor probably won't recommend it. I'm not trying to be mean, but a lot of people use the diagnosis "deviated septum" as a nose-job excuse. If this is you, please see a plastic surgeon. The blood vessel can be fixed by a simple procedure; basically they numb the inside of the nose and zap the artery/vessel so that it doesn't bleed. Please keep in mind that you will probably have to undergo several surgeries if you get a surgery now because as you grow, your nose will either A) get worse or B) turn into some mutant looking thing. Your doctor, if he's smart, will wait until you are done growing.
