Are tattoos and plastic surgery the same thing?

Are tattoos in the plastic surgery category? I know a lot of people who are against plastic surgery but not against tattoos. Is that a contradiction? Aren't both tattoos and plastic surgery about altering the body through artificial means for cosmetic reasons?

  1. Both are body modification so, yeah, the same in that sense. EDIT-- Oh, and I'm not against either of them. I don't think I'd ever get plastic surgery, but it doesn't affect me if someone else gets it done. If someone gets some work done to feel more comfortable with themselves, who cares? People get tattoos for the same reasons. No one can dictate to anyone else what they can and can't do to their own bodies.
  2. i would think not.. tattoos are essential dying the skin.. where as plastic surgery can totally alter who you are.. for the better or for the worse
  3. uhh.. no tattoos and plastic surgery are two totally different things
  4. Well they both are body Mod's....
  5. no there not the same thing plastic surgery is like takin skin off, tummy tucks ya u dnt do tht wit tattoos I wouldn't think there in the same category. plus have u ever seen a tattoo costing 13 grand? nawww
  6. Not at all. Tattoos are a form of art. Plastic surgery is completely changing parts of the body that already exist to make them look nothing like the parts you were born with.
  7. I've had plastic surgery and I'm heavily tattooed. I consider both of them to be body mods. Modification means to alter. Alteration in any way is a modification.
