What do you do if you're not fat enough to get gastric bypass but too fat to get liposuction??

I don't need snarky comments like "Stop eating" or "Exercise". I KNOW THAT ALREADY. I am talking SURGERY only. I know you have to have a BMI of like 40 or above for gastric bypass, and you can only be like 20 lbs over weight for liposuction. So what do people in between do?

Public Comments

  1. the lapband system.
  2. Im not sure if you are wanting it bad, you should talk to a doctor or something!
  3. try lapring its a surgery where they go in and put a band around you stomach, not stapling or removing, but just making it think its smaller then it actually is. Now that i gave a serious answer i'm going to say Surgery is NOT a perment answer. You have to be dedicated. I have a cousin you had gastric bypass, but she didnt have any will power or want to put any effort into it, she didnt follow dr's order, and her stomach muscles blew apart, she literaly ate more then she was supposed too, and it poped. she almost died. Why dont you try diet and excersise before surgery because once you loose the weight youre going to have to keep it off somehow.... good luck though
  4. Other than the obvious which you don't want to hear, you go to another doctor. And if that doctor won't do it, you go to another one. Don't go to a quack, though! Make sure that any doctor you go to is respected and licensed and has no complaints against him/her. A doctor may be willing to help you develop a plan to balance your body so that you can lose the weight necessary to make liposuction worthwhile. A tummy tuck may be something they are willing to do, or if you only have a little fat on your thighs and carry the rest in your belly, they may be willing to lipo your thighs or hips, or whatever. Good luck, I wish I had the money to pursue a solution like that... Alas, I am forced to just exercise and save my pennies in the hopes of someday getting a body lift when I finally lose the weight and end up with gross saggy skin!
  5. Weight loss surgery-like gastric bypass /lap band surgery / stomach stapling and gastrectomy have become very common and very safe now. My cousin got her Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery in India. She has lost more than 65 lbs in 5 months and is very happy with the results. The price for obesity surgery is very less in India. My cousin just paid 25% of the cost she was quoted in America. She got her surgery from a company called Forerunners Healthcare. Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as bariatric surgery and weight loss surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your Obesity surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star. http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com Hope this helps.
