Does Cosmetic Surgery teach a wrong message about self image?

What is ur opinion about it? like what are the good and bad things about it?

  1. Cosmetic and Plastic surgery are equal and biased. It can do MANY bad things. But I do thank it very much. I had surgery on my elbow, left this MASSIVE hideous scar, not the kind of scar on a simple cut, but a deformity. When I get older, if I have enough money, I plan on getting plastic surgery to fix it. As for cosmetic surgery, there can be risks as to self-esteem issues, but all in all, it's just something to make the world simpler.
  2. People these days rely too much on looks sometimes and not enough with personality. You can buy anything but you can't substitute beauty for substance. You see so many chicks on tv with ridiculously huge tits, nose jobs, lip jobs, false eyelashes, bad bleach job and tons of make up...and they are all superficial idiots. I think natural beauty and a little depth go a lot farther.
  3. Well, yes. It shouldn't be used to change the way you look "just because I didn't like (insert body part here) about myself." However, sometimes it's necessary for people involved in accidents to be able to function again. i.e., a friend of mine was in cheer leading and she was one of the girls who caught the fliers. The flier launched incorrectly and landed with her elbow crushing my friend's eye socket. My friend nearly had to have cosmetic surgery, simply to get her right eye to open again. Thank goodness it healed on its own! In summary, if it's necessary cosmetic surgery can be a wonderful thing. If it's used for a vain reason, it's not exactly a wonderful idea. I think if someone wants to get it done, they should present a valid reason, something other than "I don't like how I look." God made everyone beautiful and special, but a lot of the time, we can't (or choose not to) see it.
