How is the total cost of health care compiled. Does it include cosmetic surgery, tattoo removal, face lifts?

Is the information correct from the US Govt or does it include other than basic health care?

  1. i hope not . these are all elective. this is one of the best questions i,ve seen on yahoo. i,d like to know. the General Accounting Office of the federal gov. might be a source. try g.a.o.gov.
  2. Insurance does not cover anything cosmetic unless it is having an adverse effect on your health. Tattoo removals and face lifts certainly aren't covered. Nose jobs are covered if they are causing breathing problems, breast reductions are sometimes covered if it can be proven that the woman is having back pain or other health problems because of the size of her breasts and occasionally an abdominoplasty/tummy tuck will be covered if a woman has had multiple c-sections and experiencing problems due to the condition her stomach is in. There is alot of red tape to go through to get these procedures approved. The insurance will pay for it but they certainly don't make it easy.
