Should I get cosmetic surgery during winter break?

My winter break is 2 weeks long and I plan on getting an eyelid surgery, chin augmentation, and nose reshaping done. I know it sounds like a lot of procedures but all of them are very simple in my case (i'm not going for drastic changes in any one of those). Some information I found on the surgeon's site says that the chin takes 1 week to most of the bruising and swelling to go away; the nose takes 2-4 weeks depending on the kind of procedure; and the eyes can take up to several weeks depending on the severity of the procedure. I don't expect to be perfectly normal by the time i go back to school and don't mind being a little swollen. Does anybody have experience and advice? Keep in mind that my procedures will be very minor and minimal cutting, breaking, etc. I'd appreciate any advice Just another note: I'm 20 years old and I'm doing this for myself not for a boyfriend or anything. I considered this when I was 18 but decided to wait until I was 20 to see if I still wanted it. The reason I wanted to do it winter break is because summers are just too busy for me (biochem majors with full time summer quarter). So please no comments on how old I am and "don't get plastic surgery" Thanks again

  1. your in school wanting surgery... seriously, how old are you?
  2. I have never had a surgery before but keep in mind that is a painful and long process that you might no be happy with when it is done. Since they are minimal just buy some makeup to cover up the brusies and there is not much you can do about the swelling except when you are home maybe put some ice on it
  3. Maybe you should get a new hobby like boxing. Then you can have those alterations done for free in a fun environment!
  4. I have not had any personal experience, but you should take into consideration the percentage that it might not all go so smoothly. I wouldn't do it if I only had two weeks off. Maybe get the chin and nose job and do the rest later onw hen you have more time off or when you take off some time for it because everyone's situation is different and you may take longer to heal. You should give yourself more time in case you need it.
  5. You are only considering how much time it will take to look reasonable enough to be seen in public post-surgery. Two weeks is probably long enough, but if something goes wrong it will take longer. Just from the nose job I only had bruising for about a month, but it could be covered with make up.Or if you don't like the way it turned out and don't feel like going out at all how will you cope with that ? I had a nose job in April this year and I had wanted one for seven years. I made the right decision as my nose looks great now. But it took 6 months for the swelling to go down in which time I thought that's how my nose was going to look and I was panicking I hardly went out much in the 5 months after surgery. Even something as simple as a nose job can dramatically change the way your whole face looks, it's sometimes hard to get use to, especially if you think it looks worse afterwards. To get a rhinoplasty, chin implant and eyelid surgery all at once is a huge change. But if you know all the risks and still want to do it, go ahead. This is a great site I found after I had my nose job when I wanted to ask questions. It's very helpful and has real people who have had cosmetic procedures done and pictures of before and afters. The good and the bad. www.realself.com Good luck with whatever you choose
