How much pain can a dog be after getting neutered? LAser surgery?
I had my dog neutered yesterday via laser surgery. I however opted out of pain meds. He seems fine, but how do I know he is really ok? Should I get him the pain meds anyways?

- You need to discuss this with your vet, not strangers on YA's.
- i would leave him for the next few days see how he gets on. but for a dog being neutered is a bit of a shock so they could be in a slight bit of pain. but if you think hes unhappy do what you like. x
- my boyfriend had the same done to his dog, vet told him not to pamper the dog or it will want more pitty and he won't pick up, if he is a house dog he wont mend as quick as a work dog, but if your worried you should get the pain med, but don't pamper him and he will mend quicker..... hope it helps...
- Neutering isn't a big deal for males. He doesn't need pain meds and will be just fine without them.
- I expect he IS fine. I have both a male and a female dog. The boy was bouncing around very quickly whilst the girl was under the weather for a couple of days.
- I wouldn't get him pain meds. He will be fine.
- Truth is, you really don't know if he is in pain or not. You can only rely on his expressions and attitude. I have neutered 2 male dogs, several years apart, and 1 I got pain meds for and 1 I didn't. Honestly, they both acted the same after a day or so. I wouldn't worry about it.
- Most healthy animals are active the same day as the surgery. You said he is fine and answered your own question.
