Laser scar removal, does it work?

I have both surgery scars and slight acne scars. I've heard that laser treatment could help get rid of them. I had liposuction a year ago and have horrible Purple brown scars on my legs that doesn't seem to want to go away. I have used so many creams and oils but they havent helped at all. So last resort i thought of laser. The thing is that there is so many types and brands out there not sure which one to try. I would really appreciate it if someone who has had this kind of treatment could fill me in, as i think talking to the clinics that provide these treatments is pointless as their trying to convince you so that they can make money.
