Why don't women with cosmetic plastic surgery realize they look uglier post surgery?

Notice I said *cosmetic and am NOT referring to a woman who has been through a terrible tragedy all interesting answers : )

  1. Because beauty is subjective. Even if you think they look ugly post-surgery, who's to say how ugly they felt prior to the cosmetic procedures.
  2. The answer above makes a great point, but also, often someone that thinks they are ugly enough to go through cosmetic surgery great enough to alter their facial structure for example, will have body dysmorphic disorder, and think themselves horrific when they are not. I think they think they look good post-surgery because it is not their own face anymore.
  3. Not true. A lot of cosmetic surgeries look quite good. But it also boils down to opinion, you may like the way someone looks after surgery but someone else may think they looked better before. A good example is Ms Monroe. Before she became a well-known actress she [advised by her studio] got a nose and chin job. Personally I think she looked beautiful either way. But some people think she looked better when she was Norma Jeane, while some people think she looked better when she was Marilyn. Judge for yourself...
