What is a deviated septum?

I looked at some pictures of a deviated septum and compared them to my nose and I have it. How bad does it have to be to be able to get surgery? My nose also has a huge bump in it and it's crooked. I'm not old enough to get plastic surgery by myself (plus I have no money) but I really don't like my nose.
