What exactly happened to Mickey Rourke? Why does he look awful now ?

Did he just have a lot of bad plastic surgery? What's his history about this? Just curious because I saw him in 9 1/2 weeks and he was such a good looking man back then.... Did he get so much plastic surgery as a result of the boxing injuries?

2. i think he did a lot of drugs and drank alcohol back in the day
3. Alcohol, and a whole lot of unnecessary plastic surgery. If he was trying to recapture his more youthful looks he failed miserably.
