How much does nissen fundoplication surgery cost?

Just curious to know if anyone has has one and what the price was. i have been suffering from acid reflux since i was 16 and now im 21. and also if you would recommend the surgery. i heard lots of people wont be able to vomit afterwards which i would not mind at all!

Surgery costs are not just one price - you have to pay for pre-operative testing, the surgeon's professional fee, the anesthesiologist's professional fee, OR time, recovery room time, medications, lab tests, and whatever other charges the hospital throws onto your bill. Not being able to vomit isn't usually a big deal, but not being able to swallow can be, which is one possible side effect of that operation. (I have a patient that has her esophagus dilated monthly because her wrap was a little too tight.) I'd recommend consulting with a surgeon who does these (general surgeons and some thoracic surgeons do them) and asking about costs. Sometimes hospitals will give you a fixed rate if you don't have insurance, but that's the kind of thing you have to arrange in advance.
