Why do people criticize women for getting plastic surgery and not men?

Why do people criticize women who get breast implants or nose jobs, but not men? Shouldn't men be criticized for their penis enlargement surgery? It seemed that women who are getting plastic surgery are the ridicule of other people? There are lot of men and women making fun of people who choose to get boob jobs and liposuction. For example, celebrities who get nose jobs. I bet there would be comments on sites like TMZ about how horrible it looks or how it distorts her face. Why do people care if a woman get plastic surgery but not men?

Public Comments

  1. Because men don't make themselves look like aliens and cat people with plastic surgery. Most of them know when to stop. If you choose to get surgery that doesn't even make you look human, you deserve the ridicule.
  2. Those celebrities that get nose jobs or other forms of plastic surgery on other body parts are not criticized because of the surgery itself, but because the surgery is and/or looks pointless, doesn't look good, or the surgeon did a bad job. Boob implants are common, no one cares, but it isn't necessary, I think women should worry about butt implants. I have never publicly heard of a man getting penis enlargement surgery. Men usually don't get about superficial stop, we just go to the gym and add muscle.... I've never heard of a surgeon doing that.
  3. I think people don't like plastic surgery on men or women. Its just that women tend to get more obvious plastic surgery and in more numbers. I mean, you can tell when a woman has had a boob job. A little hard to know if a guy got penile enlargement (and really doubt many guys would go for this considering how sensitive that area of the body is).
  4. men dont advertise their penis enlargements the way chicks with implants do with their super low-cut tops. i thought the whole idea of plastic surgery was to make you look like you were naturally hot, not screaming to the whole world you are insecure.
  5. I think plastic surgery is more common with women, and some plastic surgery really does look like ****. My mother talked my dad into a nose job many years ago because his nose was bulbous and seemed more so with age. I've been wondering who this pointy-nosed man I call Dad is for the last 20 years. I think people should stay away from plastic surgery altogether.
  6. I think anyone who gets plastic surgery is criticized, and it isn't right. Women tend to opt for it more often than men (and the men who do get it are much less willing to talk about it). What I don't understand is how people can be okay with someone spending $30,000 remodelling their kitchen for no better reason than to keep it "current", but have such a huge issue with someone spending $10,000 to improve their physical appearance!
