Is Laser surgery for Glucoma is advisable?

We know Glucoma is not curable.Laser surgery is a new technology wherein they cut or block some blood vessel but they say it is a 50:50 chance.I want to know about experiences of some people.I am scared of some adverse consequences.Should we live with slowly progressing Glucome or opt for an experimental surgery for which our specialist has advised.Has any one been blind due to Glucoma? Thanks. They say there are successful chinese remedies.Any one has any experience?

  1. There are proven laser surgeries for glaucoma. You shouldn't have to have an experimental procedure done. I don't know what your pressures are, what drops you're using or what surgeries you've had so far, so your ophthalmologist will be able to give you better advice, but ALT and SLT are moderately successful laser procedures that are proven to lower intraocular pressure. You may want to ask about those. There are also many other non-laser surgeries available that are also already proven to lower pressure. Unless you have tried drops and the proven surgeries, I personally wouldn't volunteer for something that is experimental.
