Will crossbite jaw surgery change my face?

I have a pretty bad crossbite and I need surgery soon. The problem is that one side of my lower jaw is longer than the other side. I'm scared that my face will look different after it's fixed. I don't want my face to look longer because I already have a long face. Have you ever had corrective jaw surgery? Does your face look different? Better or worse? Does it look longer?

1. I had corrective jaw surgery about 4 years ago. Like you, my face is long and I was worried it wouldn't look good after the surgery. The surgeon fixed my open bite and shortened my face. My face looks better (and so do my teeth!). It's kind of like plastic surgery, so you should look better after it's over.
