Is it generally much safer nowadays to get laser surgery performed regardless of price?

I don't have the money at the moment, but am really considering getting it done in the future - i really hate contacts and especially hate glasses. What is the success rate nowadays though for laser surgery? And are the worst your eyes are, the harder it is to correct?
