can cosmetic surgery and functional surgery be performed at the same time?

Basically I had a septoplasty done a couple years ago. Im really pissed and it still enrages me whenever I think about it.... basically its a very rare chance that the surgery does not work. And it didn't work for me. I was bleeding out of my nose for a week straight for nothing. I want to get it done again but I also want a blepharoplasty (its a cosmetic eyelid surgery). They are both on my face so do you think I have any chance of getting them done at the same time?

  1. It's possible to have them done at the same time, but you would need both surgeons to work together. The biggest risk would be infection spreading from one site to another.
  2. Ask your ENT. Many of them also do plastic surgery on the face.
  3. It's very possible. We do that a lot. Plastic surgeons can do septoplasties, but yours may be a particularly difficult case, as it didn't work the first time. I would not trust an ENT to do a bleph. Sometimes we coordinate care so that two surgeons come into the same case, one after the other. It can get tricky with their schedules, but it an be done. I'd also check with the plastic surgeon to make sure that he/she is OK with those procedures being done together. There may be issues with swelling from the nose that could complicate the bleph. Good luck.
  4. Septal correction and blepharoplasty can be considered and done in the same sitting.
