1. Cons: Puts beauty higher than it already is in society. People spend money that could be spent in MUCH more productive ways. Teens believe that they will only be happy if they are pretty. Low self-esteem Pros: Umm.... people look better? That is about it.

3. It allows people with disfigurements the opportunity to improve their appearance. medical reconstructive surgery helps increase self esteem by helping people (usually women) to look better conversely lowers self esteem as it encourages the idea that women need to improve their looks
4. I see it as a by product of society. Society has always valued good looks. Pros: Economy ( just another product to sell), jobs, help certain industries. Cons: Mental health issues (self esteem problems, depression etc.), makes the superficiality of our society even worse.
