Do the majority of Korean women have had at least one sort of cosmetic surgery?

My friend told me that 80% of Korean women (especially teenage to college aged girls) have had at least some minor cosmetic surgery, the majority of them opt to take the double eyelid procedure which makes girls have double eyelids as a large portion of Asian women have only single eyelids. Lip and cheek procedures are also not uncommon. Is this true?

  1. The ugly truth, the answer is Yes. Most korean women nowadays have had at least some minor cosmetic surgery, maybe about 70%? Especially double eyelid which makes their eyes even prettier. But it doesn't mean that every korean women you see with double eyelids have had a surgery before, they might be mix-blood etc. Pure korean women doesn't have any eyelid though. It's also very cheap for cosmetic surgery in Korea, and lots of offer and promotion everywhere you go. On the street, parking lots, housing area etc. This is the reason why nowadays korean women feel like it's a common thing and compulsory for them to have a surgery at least once. In the other hand, korean skin ages slower than other people skins. My teacher who's 50 years old still look like she's in his early 40's . Their skin tones are really pretty! It's white, but not the normal white, not so pale. Very nice to see. =)
  2. Yes, the majority. They think double eyelids are prettier, which is not always the case. It's culture. To have a pretty face and body in Korea is considered just as important as being qualified for a job nowadays. It's sad but true. Things that are also common are jaw shaving to make the jaw less square and more round, nose jobs, fat dissolving shots, etc. You can usually tell pretty easily when someone has gotten something done if you have a picture of them before they got it. Those who have shaved their jaws just look like something was done to their jaw, bad description but true. Nose implants are easy cause if you ask them to do a "pig's nose" they won't be able to...a lot of K-Pop idols won't be able to if you asked them. :P As of 2010, South Korea has the highest rate of plastic surgery. You can't just count people cause the US would win because they have the most people. You have to calculate by procedures and then by population to get accurate numbers. Here's a chart used with raw data from the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. South Korea Procedures: 365,000 Population: 49,232,000 Percentage: 74% Brazil Procedures: 1,054,000 Population: 193,000,000 Percentage: 55% Taiwan Procedures: 103,000 Population: 22,929,000 Percentage: 44% United States Procedures: 1,300,000 Population:309,000,000 Percentage: 42%
  3. No, 80% is a bit crazy, don't you think? I'd say around 30% in the cities and 5% in the rural areas. But I'm just guessing.
  4. The UNITED STATES WINS HEAD DOWN IN COSMETIC SURGERY. EVEN THOUGH ITS COMMON IN KOREA UNITED SATES DO MORE PROCEDURES.
  5. not majority... but many want to get some..
