Are these statements about liposuction true or false?

I consulted with a plastic surgeon I am considering for liposuction and he told me it's not necessary to wear a medical-grade compression garment after the procedure, that a body shaper or tight pair of bike shorts would do. Does this sound suspicious? I have heard from every other source that a good compression garment is essential to guarantee good results after liposuction. Also, he seemed to think laser-assisted liposuction does not deliver better results than the traditional method. Do you think he does or doesn't know what he's talking about?

  1. I'm thinking you need a second opinion before you do anything invasive to your body.
  2. when you are planning for any surgery, consultation or whatever medical/surgical intervention there is, it is always best to get a second or a third opinion. This will give you options and more clarifications, and wider perspective of things. To ensure better results after liposuction surgery, a compression garment is necessary. First of all it helps your body conform to your new shape, and it provides you with better contours. yes it does sound suspicious, but what exactly are his reasons why a compression garment is no longer necessary? as to the subject of the type of liposuction techniques, it is safe to say that different doctors have varying preferences in approach. A laser lipo may be safe and it prevents the mechanical risks that is involved in a traditional lipo but it also has its drawbacks. That is why I would like to reiterate again that you should not limit yourself to only one doctor when preparing for liposuction.
  3. If you are in doubt with that doctor then you better get a second and third opinion and if the second and third one's answer satisfies you then choose between them. It's better to be sure than suffer afterward.
