  1. Talk to the doctor who performed the surgery on your sister. Discuss your fears & questions.(write them down on paper before your appointment) No two people are alike in what may happen after surgery, so don't let what happened to your sister, scare you.
  2. Hi I had rhinoplasty (nose job), more than once. I had a free rhino thrown in with my first septoplasty, done in a military hospital. The splints coming out are the most painful thing of all!!!!!!!!!!! OMG--take a pain pill before they remove the splints, my doctor said it'll make a grown man cry on his knees! The packing hurts too, but it comes out first, splints are usually in two weeks, what happens is the tissue starts to heal around the splints, when removed, well, it pulls that tissue out with it! OUCH! Now heres the thing with septoplasty and you can ask your ENT or onthanologist about it, once is usually not enough, sometimes up to three try's, which I had. you can see from my picture I have a kind of small nose, but the turbinates in the sinus cavities shift around, and when they do block your breathing again. After my post-op I asked about re doing it he said NO, I might have a Micheal Jackson and the cartilage cave in, so I bought some springs off the doctor that go in the nostrils that hold them open so I can breathe at night. After having the 2 septoplasty's I also had 3 tubinaplasty's done, my septum was deviated to the right, so I can not breathe out of the left side. I was in college the first surgery and went to school the next day with bandages, so its not that bad, plus I wanted out of speeches in oral communications class, and got plenty of sympathy! Don't be left alone for the first few night, and NO BLOOD THINNERS! Not even a asp! It can cause you to bleed more freely. I woke up one night choking in my own blood, on heavy medication, if I hadn't rolled over I would have drown. But that is because he did not have me stop my thinners 5 days before the surgery, dummy doctor forgot to tell me. It is a short surgery and short healing time, and I am sure you will be happy with the rhino, everyone like a smaller nose! I was so glad to have the extra cartilage removed. and BTW mine was from my ex-husband who like to beat women, fracture my nose one night, it was 3 years later before I had the first surgery. So, good luck! I hope your happy with your new nose and get well soon. You can email me if you have any questions. I hope they are not having to break yours first? I didn't need mine broke, and I was so lucky no raccoon eyes (bruising) hardly any swelling at all too. Good luck! Take before and after pictures too! PS---sleep propped up for a month or so afterwords, at a angle, helps with any drainage. This is probably too much info, I had some medical stuff done with my nose job "rhinoplasty". But you can email me, I will answer any questions. I am so glad I had it done "pretty wise" I love it, I had a lot of cartilage on the end, like a ball, that he removed. Good luck. oh, there was no vomiting and never got sick and went to school the next day, pretty easy procedure, everyone is usually happy afterwords.
  3. hey i was 12 when i had my 1st nose job.but only b/c of getting kicked by a horse. It was not bad, and i was NOT A SLEEP. I got some darn got feel good pills.LOL. im going to go get another nose job in two weeks it is better to not think about it, and just get it done.
