Are you against cosmetic plastic surgery for children? why or why not?

"Elective cosmetic surgery for children has become a kind of rite-of-passage for some teens and tweens in this country (America)." Do you defend or challenge the practice of ding elective cosmetic surgery on the under- 18-year old male or female. Give reasons why.

  1. I am very much against doing plastic surgerey on anyone under 18. My main reason is that at that age you're still developing, you could still grow into your features, they can still change. And also, promoting that is just fostering insecurity in today's youth by pretty much saying, "Well, you're not good enough but here, we can just change it!". Hope that helps!
  2. Yea because their stupid, they don't know whats good for them.
  3. i wish i could get a nose job but i think i am too young (13 yrs)
  4. Is this your homework?? I'm against it. I know people who have desperately wanted nose jobs when they were 14 or 15...But when they were 18 they felt entirely different. People should wait until they are 18, adults, because they can make a responsible decision that has been well-thought out.
  5. Im definitely against it. Your not done growing and maturing both physically and emotionally.
  6. I'm against it b/c too many complications can occur and b/c ur born the way u r for a reason ur not supposed to change the way u look ur supposed to love it no matter what or just learn to live with it.
  7. the kids are still growing! y change it? i only believe cosmetic surgery for teens is appropriate if it's for reconstructive reasons (like they got in an accident, and they're face became deformed.)
  8. OF COURSE !!!!!god made everyone special and everyone perfect...and if they got in an accident or something that is a totally different story but i am 100% against it.
  9. I am against it, because their body is still changing, and they shouldn't worry about their looks as much as they do. They don't know what will happen with their bodies, and just try to fix everything; but they may just be wrecking their bodies. The ONLY time it would seem right is if they have a medical condition, or have gotten into a horrible accident that changed they look dramatically.
  10. Well personally I'm against plastic surgery period. I think people should be happy the way they are, and appreciate their looks. But some teens are starting to do it now because its come more common and available at a lower price. (not that its cheap) and also teens are going through stages where they're bodies are changing and they don't feel good about their looks ♥
  11. well it dpenend because some kids are born with deformities and or hurt themselves and they have to have surgery if your talking bout normal lip boobs lipo then no
  12. Only if it is a major birth defect or due to accident like fire or car
  13. I'm against any form of plastic surgery (unless it is beneficial for your health). People just need to get over themselves, learn that looks don't really change anything, and accept how they look. I suppose if I were the ugliest person in the world I wouldn't care enough to do anything about it. Bottom line of plastic surgery for children? Waste of parent's money.
  14. Is this your homework? I think ever since plastic surgery began to rise and gain popularity as being the norm, our society has deteriorated and withered away to being massively preoccupied with looks and the exterior. People don't seem to value other, more important aspects, as much as they do beauty. If idiotic kids, who pay so much attention to the media, and feel they must follow the crowd to be someone, I say let them keep being idiots. If the adults around them seem to think it's reasonable, it just proves my point further, and they apparently have either, no will to say "no", or are just another contribution to the stupidity of the masses. No one before at least twenty-one, REALLY knows who they are or what they want (frontal cortex is not fully developed). Plastic surgery is an important and drastic decision to make that people so young, literally, do not have the brains to make. Furthermore, just the physical aspect of making that decision should tell you it's not a good one. You are still developing, features change as the years pass, not a lot, but they shift or things fit in better after time. And with just half a millimeter of difference on a face, you can notice the change. Plastic surgery is really not necessary for most. It is just capricious. And that is not a good enough reason to go under the knife.
  15. I defend the practice of cosmetic surgery. Now a days, young teens are getting concerned about their looks. I could fully understand someone if they say "I have a huge bump on my nose", I would want it removed, wouldn't you? I I fully defend this case, but if the teen wants to have their lips done, nose, eyebrow lift, then it is just plain nonsense. One procedure is enough. But getting more than 2 & being underage, that's a big no no. Eventually, being concerned about your looks makes you become self conscious and lowers your self esteem, as it did to me. And it still affects me to this day. I hope this helped.
  16. Plastic surgery for anything but a corrective purpose i.e.: to mend a serious disfigurement,or after a burn or other accident is something I object to on moral grounds. Why encourage self absorption and vanity when you should be grooming your child's character and celebrating uniqueness and gratitude for what they have been blessed with."Low self esteem" because they don't like their features can be cured by visiting with children who have been truly disfigured because of a congenital defect or cancer.Serve your child better by removing whatever sense of entitlement is driving that vanity and reroute the funds for their elective surgery, say a rhinoplasty ,towards blessing the life of a child who otherwise could not afford badly needed treatment for a cleft palate.
