Do you think it's wrong to get plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons?
Boobjobs, nosejobs, tummy tucks...we're having ourselves cut open and injecting unnatural things in our body---is this wrong or perfectly fine or do you find yourself in the middle? i want some opinions!

- thats a good question. I would say its bad to just be yourself but I would be a hypocrite. Because if I could I would do my boobs
- I think it's up to every individual to decide for themselves. I personally think it's unnecessary, grotesque, narcissistic, dangerous and a huge waste of money. But that's for me personally. I would be disappointed if one of my friends got plastic surgery but like I said it's a personal choice.
- I think that it's fine in moderation (lipo, eyelift, boob job) but more ppl need to learn to age gracefully
- Unless it is medically necessary, you should play in the uniform you were issued. In other words, God made you the way you are for a reason and He doesn't make mistakes.
- I think its fine, if it makes you feel better about yourself and your willing to risk your life, then go for it!
- I think that it is vain and immoral. I have struggled with this for a long time because I need a tummy tuck after two kids where I gained 60lbs and then lost it all. I also would like a boob job but being a Christian I think that it is vain. That money could be spent better, to help people.
- I think it's disturbing that anyone would risk death (going under the knife is always dangerous) because they can't deal with how they look. It certainly didn't change Michael Jackson's insides any (and I thought he looked fine before anyway), and that was the real source of his problems. On the other hand, people like that keep plastic surgeons in practice and are probably subsidizing the work the surgeons do for burn/disfigurement victims. The whole thing makes me sad - if people weren't so superficial, folks who really need reconstructive surgery due to accidents probably wouldn't have as much psychological trauma to begin with.
- A nosejob or an eyelid lift can make a huge difference in one's self confidence without drastically changing the look of the face, and that kind of plastic surgery can be considered comparable to dental work if it's done in a very subtle way. I think very few women with huge noses would pass up the option to get that fixed. Even famous women w/ big noses that are applauded for "keeping their look" have had some work done for refinement. Barbra Streisand, for example. I think boobjobs and body work and work that is just meant to make you look younger--that's the really vain stuff. Just my opinion though.
- Put me in the middle. The most invasive procedure that I have had personally is a permanent wave. Nevertheless, I have a daughter who was born with ears that stuck out from her head prominently. By the time she was in school, her "friends" were calling her "monkey ears" and worse, to a devastating psychological effect, one from which I am quite sure she has not recovered (ongoing body image problems) even eight years later. I waited for 4 more years before I set her up with a plastic surgeon, using the same sort of rationalization that many of you without these issues so comfortably toss out. Finally, in a 3rd bout of rethinking plastic surgery, I was talking with our family dentist (a good friend) who asked: "Would you hesitate to brace her teeth?" Other than a minimal anesthesia risk, there is no significant factual or moral difference. The true test of your convictions is whether or not you would apply them to your children. Those of you with ample natural beauty have no basis to make sweeping generalizations which would never impact you in the slightest. I would hope that I have not initiated a cycle of surgeries for my daughter. For what it's worth, I see no evidence that I have.
- It's fine. If it makes you comfortable in your own skin, I say that there is nothing wrong with it.
- its ok to make thing look better a long as they dont look fake or to plastic like really big boobs or jackson's nose but is nice when you fix them so they look natural and not ugly
