Laser surgery is the only way to get rid of the scars completely? Any side effects?

I have a big thick scar that has been bothering me for over a year. I heard of Bio Oil, but I don't think it'll get rid of that scar completely. So is laser surgery the only way to get rid of that scar? If not, then what other ways are there? Will there be any side effects from laser surgery?

1. Yes there can be many side affect from laser surgery. And you have to really look after your skin (like not go into direct sunlight.) The best advice I can give you is to consult your doctor b4 you do anything.
2. Unfortunately nothing can get rid of scars completely. Laser surgery can lighten and soften the scar but cannot completeyl eradicate it. Non Ablative Laser surgery is not to painful, it feels similar to someone snapping an elastic band against your skin. You may experience some redness and then over the next few months the scar should soften and fade. You may require multiple treatments depending on the thickeness and redness of the scar.
