- I have been told that a person with near-sightedness are by far better candidates for laser surgery (as opposed to far-sightedness). I am badly far-sighted, and I have astygmatism. Plus, my right eye is weak and I should have been "patched" as a child over my stronger left eye, according to my opthamologist. I still want to pursue laser -- but it's been a while since I asked about it. I hope & pray technology has come a long way. I don't even require being able to get out of glasses -- just help my vision! If anyone knows new info, please let us know. We'll keep checking on the responses. .
- It all depends on your corneal thickness. The higher prescription you have the more tissue you need. The best way is to go have a free lasik consult and they will tell you if you are a good candidate. We just did surgery on a girl with a -8.50-but her cornea had enough thickness. Hope this helps!
