is it possible to improve your eyesight without laser surgery?
I went to get my eyes checked out last week and I need glasses for reading, watching tv and while i am on the computer. I can't see things very well far away. but when im close to the object i see it perfectly. it's blurry when im far away from it. is there anything i can do to improve my eyesight so i don't have to wear glasses or contact lenses without having laser surgery?

- Nope. I've always heard Carrots are good for eyesight because of vitamin-k. But I'm not too familiar with it improving eyesight.
- Well just keep wearing the glasses and contact lenses and your eyes will get better but some people have said there eyes have cured without any of this im sure its possible but its not worth risking
- Unfortunately there is no possible way to correct or even slightly improve eyesight, without undergoing a procedure like laser eye surgery. If your so opposed about having the surgery, the only other solution, is to wear glasses or contact lenses... and please remember that you were advised to wear these, otherwise your vision may actually get worse. Hope this helps with your choice.... All the best xx
- I really don't think so. I'm not an eye technician or optomitrist, but I do know that laser eye treatment is the only publicly-known aid to certain eye dysfunctions. If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that any training of the eye would be use of the muscles of the eye, unless they were kept from sunlight as training. Both use and lack of use, cause weakening of the muscles-causing more dysfunction. My bet is on laser!
- It's not possible to improve your eyesight without surgery, but it is possible to prevent it from getting worse. Your vision will get worse is you strain them (not your wearing glasses/contacts) So just wear your contacts and you'll be fine :]
- Glasses or contacts. Please use them. It could save your eye sight in the near future. I wear glasses for reading and watching tv though not as often as I should. (yes I know Ive contradicted my answer) So please use the glasses and save up for laser as there isn't anything else other than contacts.
- If you can see close objects well, why do you need glasses for reading ? Don't you think it's a contradiction ? Glasses are NOT a therapy or a medicine. They do not cure anything, they counterbalance your nearsightedness but only while you are wearing them, there's no lasting effect. On the other hand, if used improperly they can cause great damage to your eyesight. Nearsighted people need not, MUST NOT use glasses for close-up activities. The only exception is when they have a strong prescription. If you started wearing glasses just now, your prescription can't be too high and if it were, you'd need glasses every moment of the day, not just for tv,computer and reading. A moderately nearsighted person may need glasses for watching tv (because of the greater distance) , but absolutely not for reading a book or using a computer (unless the computer monitor is quite far away). The fastest and most efficient way of ruining your eyesight is to wear glasses while you are reading books or during other close-up tasks. If a doctor or an optometrist tells a moderately nearsighted person to wear glasses for reading, he/she is a dangerous incompetent. Wearing negative lenses (i.e. to correct nearsightedness) when they are not necessary, causes eye-strain even if you are not aware of it. The consequence is that your myopia will get worse much faster. There's only one rule to follow: use glasses only when you can't see well and remove them every time you can see well enough. And now on to your question regarding improving eyesight. In April 2008 I found an interesting book which promised nothing but hard work and I began the visual training it described. It allowed me to reduce my prescription from -3.50 to -1.75 and I'll go on until I can throw my glasses away. But I assure you it was not easy. My eyes (and everybody else's ) took years to become nearsighted. Nothing can eliminate nearsightedness fast. Did you know that even after laser surgery a nearsighted eye will still be nearsighted even if it sees perfectly ? A myopic eye can't see well beacuse it's longer than normal. Laser surgery can't change that, not even a little. It simply reshapes the cornea by destroying part of it, and transforms it into a corrective lens, exactly like glasses or contacts. But the eye will always remain longer than normal, i.e. nearsighted. If you are serious about improving your eyesight, if you are ready to work on your eyes, then I recommend you that book: http://www.amazon.com/Secret-Perfect-Vis... All you need to know is written there and for $12 it's well worth a try. But if you want immediate results and have no patience, it would be a waste of money, however little.
- No, once your eyes decline it is extremely unlikely they will improve. Also, laser eye surgery is very expensive and damages a part of your eye to improve the bit that has become weak so it's best to wear glasses to avoid permanent damage and strain to your eyes. Nowadays you can get really cool glasses and a wide variety of frames from the NHS so you won't look stupid or be bullied because of your glasses or anything. Also once you've worn glasses for a while you no longer notice you're wearing them and they make life so much easier.
- well, that just means that you are nearsigted. lots of people are. it shouldnt be a problem if the blur doesnt bother you too much, but if it does and you REALLY dont want glasses, ive heard that bates method is pretty successful (look it up) or try using Marine Phytoplankton, ive heard it improves vision.
- Wearing glasses cannot make your eyes any better , or any worse. If the prescription is correct they will make you see well whilst you are wearing them. Eye excercises are only of use for problems with the eye muscles. You are excercising your "vision muscles" all the time you are looking from distance to near and back again. Glasses can look very attractive if chosen with good advice, and ,luckily, these days are very fashionable.
- Don't know how old you are but if you are still young then i suggest eating plenty of BROCCOLI and a supplement of I-CAPS.
